How to Select an Optocoupler Module

These are the first parameters to determine the selection of the most suitable optocoupler module.

1. Input voltage - determine the maximum voltage of the input signal and select an optocoupler module above the limit.

2. Output voltage and current – Make sure the output of the optocoupler can handle the voltage and current required by the application. Some optocoupler modules have high current or high voltage output ratings.

3. Response Time - Any optocoupler used for high-speed signal transmission requires a response time in microseconds (μsec).

4. Mounting - It is possible to build an optocoupler circuit from scratch, but the DIN rail mount modules are easy to install.
